Yes, we're still here

Sorry for being so quiet lately--we've just been busy and/or exhausted lately.

Here's a Leoism from on the way home tonight...

(We're driving behind a horse trailer.)

Leo: Mom, where are those horses going?
Me: I don't know, maybe they're sick and are going to the veterinarian (the U of I Vet Med complex is in between our house and daycare).
Leo: Why do horses get sick?
Me: For the same reasons people do--germs and viruses.
Leo: But what about antibodies?
Me: Where did you learn about antibodies?!
Leo: From Sid {the Big Sneeze}.

28 weeks and more non-names

First, a picture from 28 weeks and a couple days, taken on Saturday shortly before leaving for a potluck:

Then, two recent additions to the list of things we're not naming this girl:

7) Bob

8) Gerty (after a street we take to get home from his school.)

Scarf affairs

My sister made Leo a beautiful scarf for Christmas because he had been complaining that he didn't have one. But, in true Leo fashion he won't wear it (saying he'll wear it next Friday).

Jeff wore it today because he lost his own. When Leo saw this he said "Now my scarf has a neck to love!"

Snow and cookies

Woke up today to about three glorious inches of new snow and it just kept falling. Jeff got a snow day, but I had to go in and daycare was open, so Leo went to school. We picked him up at about 3:15 though and then we all went home and shoveled. We've gotten maybe 6-7 total so far and more is supposed to fall tonight. Leo was not at all happy about coming back into the house when we were done shoveling. Thank goodness one of our neighbors did part of our sidewalk with her snowblower, or we'd probably still be out there.

Last weekend Leo helped me make mocha crinkles. I rolled the dough balls and he dunked them in powdered sugar and put them on the cookie sheet. He's a pretty good helper.

Leo-isms in the new year

Me: Sometimes I can't decide whether I like fall or winter best.
Leo: I can help you with that.
Me: Oh really?
Leo: I'm an Ice Road Trucker Imagination Mover!

*********
While trying to get Leo dressed this morning...

Me: Come on Leo, this isn't funny.
Him: (very seriously) I'm not laughing.
