Back to work

So far it's been a good week--I've only been at work 2 of the four days! (I had a medical procedure and prep Weds and Thursday). Memaw and Bebop are here helping the transition and corralling kids while we were at the hospital today.

Our friends the Orams sent a huge box of pretty things for Molly-here's a dress.

Making pizzas.

Telling secrets.

Anniversary couple.

New name for when Molly sneezes formula out her nose: Snurps (we call spit-ups urps).

Earlier this week it was very rainy. Leo insisted on taking his umbrella somewhere and Jeff was trying to convince him to take his raincoat too.

Leo: Why do I have to take my raincoat and umbrella?
Jeff: Have you ever heard the expression "belt and suspenders"?
Leo: No. Is there a movie or a book about it? A poem? I wanna wear a belt. What's a dispender?

Last day

Today is my last day of maternity leave. Molly and I feel the same way about it.

Nature center

We went to the nature center with the Gentrys the other day and had a great time. Leo called the big crazy trees "monster trees" and had fun crossing over the creek (full from all of our rain) on a bridge.

Bubbles and Bruiser

Leo had two accidents yesterday that make him look like he was in a brawl--first he was rolling around on the floor and face-planted into his little wooden wagon, and second he turned around too quickly when leaving Molly's room and walked right into the door frame.

All not exactly quiet

It's been a while since we last posted simply because everybody has been very busy.

June 1 marked the last day I had students at Centennial HS. For those who don't know by now, my contract at Centennial was not renewed for next year, and I subsequently submitted a resignation. I do not yet have a position secured for Fall 2010, though many people assure me that it's early in the hiring season. The remainder of the week was spent cleaning and securing the room for tomorrow's start of summer school.

During that week, our friend Heidi came to visit. (She was principally visiting a friend of hers an hour and a half south of here, but came to see us for a couple days.) She loved meeting Molly, and Leo enjoyed seeing her again, too. Leo had mixed feelings about staying home for the summer, and we're having some mixed feelings about it in the end. (He's been a real squirrel this week, but that might just be it being the first week of things being different.)

Last week, Kirstin had a number of medical appointments, all in essence follow-ups to her surgery in October. The current short version is that everything appears to be normal to the specialist, and we expect a clean bill of health even after the rest of the test results come back.

Leo (and Mason) started their Farmhands mini-camp last Monday, and Leo's swim lessons start Monday and Wednesday this week. It's also Kirstin's last week of maternity leave. (In this picture, he's using the chef's toque from a visitor at school last summer as his top hat for a recorder concert.)

We've finally been remembering to make use of the library to borrow movies from, and Leo has loved the last two selections for him: Mary Poppins and Robin Hood (the Disney animated version). We've also snagged A Prairie Home Companion for us. (Weird movie.....)

Overall, life is good.
